LISD Council of PTAs will hold a reception at 6:30 p.m. March 9 in the Bolin Center for all students who participated in the PTA Reflections arts program. The reception is open to the students, their families, staff, principals, and members of the community. The event was rescheduled to avoid a conflict with elementary open house.
The Reflections program provides students an opportunity to express their artistic talent through dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Submissions are judged based on the artistic vision to portray the theme, originality, and creativity. The artist's statement on the theme, which this year is "What Is Your Story?," is just as important as the artwork itself.
Our judges, community members who are experts in fields related to the Reflections categories, have selected 18 entries to receive designations of Excellence and to represent LISD at the state level. The district can send only one entry to state for each category and age division. Age divisions are Primary (preschool – grade 2), Intermediate (grades 3-5), Middle School (grades 6-8), and High School (grades 9-12).
The state PTA will announce its award results in March, with the top entries advancing to the national level.
At the reception, we will honor the students whose submissions advanced to state, as well as 46 entries that received designations of Merit and Honorable Mention at the district level.
See All District Awards for a full list of district awards that will be given at the reception.
These LISD students will represent LISD at the state level.
