Texas PTA Rally Day
The Lewisville ISD Council of PTAs is spearheading a group of LISD PTA members who will travel to the state capitol on Monday, Feb. 24th as part of Texas PTA Rally Day. LISD PTA members—adults and students—will listen to elected representatives who are champions of public education, march to the capitol steps with their Texas PTA cohorts, rally for issues of highest importance to public education, and meet with our local elected officials.
LISD has ONE legislative priority this session—for our elected officials to raise the basic allotment. Texas has not raised the basic allotment—the amount schools receive per student to handle all facets of the educational experience—since 2019, despite steadily rising prices and inflation. Texas has a hefty surplus, has recaptured the property tax dollars of large districts like LISDs, and ranks 44th among the states in educational funding.
We are excited to attend Rally Day and say loud and clear that our schools need updated funding for the sake of students, teachers, staff and families across our district!
